We went to Midland Tx last week for my father-in-laws funeral. So an impromtu 9 1/2 hour drive with three kids was the prefect storm for some interesting "Not Me's"
First of all it was NOT me that took the kids to Toys R Us the day before we left and spent 150 bucks on toys and distractions for the kids when Christmas is right around the corner because I felt bad for them and was worried about my sanity. I never buy things for my kids out of guilt, pity, or for my own benefit. Never, simply never.
We did NOT lose my 15 month old son at the funeral home. Everyone thought someone else was watching him and we found him after a few minutes of panic and hyperventilating in a viewing room all by himself with a man in an open casket. I wish I was making this up, but I am not. I would NEVER lose my son, especially not in a funeral home.
I did NOT drive home the last four hours trying not to breathe out of my nose because Caleb threw up all over me and even though I cleaned it off the best I could I reeked like vomit.
Then on the way home I did not try to talk my husband to buying a cross for me at a old nasty truck stop as a "memento" for our trip. I certainly was not emotional and had all my wits about me after 7 hours in the car and clearly would not want to buy something that was marked up 300% at a truck stop.
We did Not take our kids trick or treating a day late because they missed it due to the drive home. We did not have them dress up and call some of the neighbors to give them warning that we were coming. We did not have the kids knock on our door as well to make it seem like they had enough houses to go to.
I warned you. I was quite a week and there are several other "Not Me's" about other family members there as well. Like how McKenna was "lost" in a 9X9 room while uncle BUJ was watching her and how he told us right before that not to worry about him watching the kids because he was not "retarded". Hmmm...
That's it for me. I hope today you laugh and love like never before and enjoy the ride while it lasts!
Happy Halloween!!!
